Overview: Shilt hut trek is the best and shortest trek in the Tirthan Valley GHNP that offers you a real experience of the Park’s wilderness.

On the first day of the trek trail proceeds by the riverside upto the campsite of Rolla. And you still wait for next morning for Shilt.
On the second day of early morning, after Rolla, you have a steep climb about 4hours to the Shilt hut. During the climb you have great chances of observing the colorful Monal if you are lucky as you are going through dense forest which home to many bird species especially known for Monal.
You can see the mountains around during trail towards the hut. You can see meadow at hut, also you can enjoy the view of the surrounding mountains peaks.

Though you can go to Hut and come back in 3 days. but we recommend you to make it to 4 days so that you can reach Rakhundi top just 2 hours trek from our hut, a very scenic spot over the Tirthan valley.
Moreover walking towards Rakhundi will allow you to spot local mammals like the Kasturi, Goral,the Himalayan Tahr, the Blue Sheep or even the Black & Brown Bears.
So if you are nature enthusiast and have good stamina for hiking with nature you have enough time, keep 5 days for the Shilt hut and Rakhundi trek !

Itinerary of Shilt Hut trek:
Day1:  Pick up from Aut to Dehuri camp , fresh yourself and enjoy breakfast, after breakfast visit local sites like waterfall and acclamatize yourself by walking around camp. enjoy lunch and get GHNP permission for trek, they enjoy delicious cuisine at evening along with snacks and dinner.

Day2:  Next morning wake up early and have breakfast , then proceed to Ropa through cab/taxi and get packed lunch (7km distance from campsite to Ropa village). Ropa to GHNP park gate trail for about 2 hours, 45 minutes to Rolla base from main gate. Camp will set up properly ,evening snacks , hygenic dinner and bonefire will be provided.

Day3: After morning breakfast, ready to climb the steep 4 hours to shilt with packing lunch. After arriving shilt hut you will enjoy the mountains view, bird watching like Monal if you are lucky. In the evening; snacks & dinner are served with bonfire, and another overnight camping in tents under the stars.

Day4: Morning breakfast then descend down through meadows, lunch will served in Rolla base camp and then finally arrived in Gushaini. Back to camp through cab/drop to aut for volvo.
